Parent Expectations

At GDLL, parents play a vital role in supporting their players and the league. To ensure a safe, fun, and fair experience for all, we ask that every parent/guardian follow these expectations:

Volunteer & Concession Duties

  • Parents are asked to help run the concession stand. Managers will assign shifts for home games or ask parents to select shifts they can cover. Concession sales are a major source of league income and help keep registration fees affordable.

  • Parents are also responsible for scorekeeping at games. Duties may include running the scoreboard, keeping the official scorebook, or using the GameChanger App to track scores.

Code of Conduct

GDLL has implemented a Sport Parent Code of Conduct to promote positive sportsmanship and proper parent behavior. Parents should read, understand, and sign this form before their child participates.

Key points include:

  • Children play to have fun — the game is for the players, not adults.

  • Parents must act as positive role models, showing respect and encouragement to all players, coaches, officials, and spectators.

  • Unsportsmanlike behavior — including booing, taunting, profane language, or undermining officials or coaches — will not be tolerated.

  • Parents are expected to support player safety and fair play, teach children to play by the rules, and emphasize skill development over winning.

  • Communication with coaches should happen at an agreed-upon time, not during games, and social media should never be used to air grievances.

Consequences of Violations

  • Any parent failing to follow this code may be asked to leave the facility and must comply with the Discipline Committee before returning.

  • Repeat or serious violations can result in suspension from attending games, practices, or league events.

  • Suspensions are applied to the parent/guardian, not the child.

Six Pillars of Character

Parents are expected to embody these principles in all league activities:

  1. Trustworthiness

  2. Respect

  3. Responsibility

  4. Fairness

  5. Caring

  6. Citizenship

By following these guidelines, parents help ensure every GDLL player enjoys a safe, positive, and fun baseball or softball experience.
