RAINOUT POLICYOur goal is to play games as scheduled, and cancellations are always a last resort. Games will typically not be cancelled until later in the afternoon. If you haven’t received a notice through GameChanger, our League Facebook Page, or from your team manager, please assume your game is on as scheduled. Many cancellations are decided right at “game time.”
When deciding whether to cancel a game or practice, the following are considered:
• Amount of rainfall
• Water on the infield/outfield
• Forecast for additional rain
•Field prep requirements
If a game or practice is cancelled, Managers and team parents will relay this information to their teams through GameChanger. Communication from the league will come through social media as well. The home team manager is responsible for contacting the visiting team to confirm the cancellation and coordinate a makeup date that works for both teams.
Lightning Safety at the Fields
The safety of our players and families is our #1 priority. Please take a moment to review our lightning policy:
- If lightning is detected within 10 miles, an alarm will sound and the warning light will flash.
- At that point, all players, coaches, and spectators must leave the fields, dugouts, and outdoor areas immediately
- Everyone should wait inside a vehicle with a parent/guardian until the system clears.
The warning light will continue to flash for 30 minutes after the last detected strike.
🚫 No one may return to the fields until the light stops flashing and the ending alarm sounds — no exceptions.
This is a mandatory safety requirement under our contract with the City. Failure to follow this policy may result in disciplinary action or removal from the league.
⚠️ Please note: The SB lightning detector is currently faulty. The City is aware and will repair it. In the meantime, if any field warning light is flashing, the fields are CLOSED.
